Top Ten Books On My Summer TBR

35fed-toptentuesdayTop Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and The Bookish. Every week they post a new top ten list and invite everyone to share their answers. This week’s topic is “Top Ten Summer Reads Freebie” so I’ve gone for my summer TBR pile.

My Summer TBR Pile

Darkly Dreaming Dexter (Dexter, #1)A Darker Shade of Magic (Shades of Magic, #1)The Best of Adam SharpDark Triumph (His Fair Assassin, #2)Unfiltered: No Shame, No Regrets, Just Me.

Darkly Dreaming Dexter (Dexter #1) – After completing the series I can’t wait to get started on this!

A Darker Shade of Magic (Shades of Magic # 1) – I’ve heard lots of good things.

The Best of Adam Sharp – I loved The Rosie Project so was thrilled when I got this ARC.

Dark Triumph (His Fair Assassin #2) – I’ve been meaning to read this for a while.

Unfiltered: No Shame, No Regrets, Just Me – I’m just waiting for it to go down in price. I’ve loved everything I’ve seen her in (which, granted, is not much)

Red Sister (Book of the Ancestor, #1)Three Dark Crowns (Three Dark Crowns, #1)Caraval (Caraval, #1)Nevernight (The Nevernight Chronicle, #1)Six of Crows (Six of Crows, #1)

Red Sister (Book of the Ancestor #1) – I got this in my illumicrate and it looks great, I just don’t want to lug it into work as it’s huge.

Three Dark Crowns (Three Dark Crowns #1) – Everything about this calls to me, I’m not really sure why I haven’t started it earlier.

Caraval (Caraval #1) – I started it and didn’t love it. I’m going to give it a second chance because of the raving reviews.

Nevernight (The Nevernight Chronicle #1) – Another hardback illumicrate book that I really want to read but don’t want to lug to work in my bag.

Six of Crows (Six of Crows #1) – Another one with rave reviews that I can’t wait to start.

  1. Three Dark Crowns and Six of Crows are EXCELLENT. Dark Triumph is my least favorite of the His Fair Assassin trilogy, but it’s not terrible by any means and once you’ve finished it, you can read Mortal Heart, which is Annith’s tale. 😀

    • Ok, so Six of Crows first? Then Three Dark Crowns and wait to read Dark Triumph until I’ve got book 3?

  2. I NEED to read the Shades of Magic series; it’s been on my TBR since last July! *hides in shame* I’m definitely a black sheep when it comes to Six of Crows, and Nevernight is a “maybe” read, so I look forward to hearing your thoughts on both of those.

I recently finished Caraval, and I think whether or not you like it depends on what type of reader you are. For me, the most important thing about any book is how well it’s written. Caraval is very gorgeously penned, so that was enough for me to overlook the fact that none of the characters really stand out or sparkle. However, if you’re a very character-based reader, it may not be the best choice for you.

    • Oo, that’s interesting. I think generally I prefer characters and plot to settings and writing, so maybe not the book for me? Thanks for your thoughts!

  3. I have to read so many of the books you listed. I am starting A Darker Shade of Magic next month and possibly Six of Crows as well. I can’t believe I haven’t read those yet.

    • I’m shocked I haven’t either, especially because Six of Crows has been sitting on my shelf for the past six months. I always get nervous with the hype thought.
